Why Clinical Supervision
Clinical supervision is a process that invites practitioners to question what they do. It is less about providing knowledge than helping supervisees to become more aware of how they work and why. Supervisees engage with the process thoughtfully. The supervisor’s comments and questions may help them in this pursuit. Careful questioning may bring to light clinical aspects to which the supervisee had paid little attention. Bringing out what is implicit in the supervisees’ work, and thinking through the effects of their actions and omissions, can have significant effects on their work. Through this process a supervisee’s clinical practice may change and develop.
